Carolina Amaya     Germany

Carolina Amaya is a contemporary Colombian artist based in Berlin. In her art, she dives into themes of colonialism, identity, culture, terror, healing and sensuality, weaving them into a narrative that honors the human body and its desires. Her style is bold, free and expressive, challenging social norms to dismantle patriarchal fantasies and inspire self-love, self-acceptance and liberation. Carolina’s work also deals with personal matters, translating the traumas of her ancestors and her own past into sculptures, drawings and paintings. Through this process, she breaks free from intergenerational pain, creating pieces filled with love, joy and forgiveness. Her work is a vibrant blend of her Colombian roots and her experiences in Berlin. She uses organic materials like Bijao tree leaves, handcrafted textiles, coconut fibers, raffia, human hair and raw fique, juxtaposed with fetish and kinky materials such as leather, chains and metal. This unique combination celebrates both the natural world and the erotic scene, making her art a true testament to the power of transformation and the beauty of the human spirit.
