Jure Kastelic, born in 1992 in Slovenia, currently lives and works in Venice. Growing up after the division of Yugoslavia, he learned the importance of economic independence at an early age. His research focuses on the less visible aspects of money, such as its origin, issuance and growing inequality. How value derives from scarcity, highlighting the parallels between money and painting. Through paintings, self-published books and public speeches, Kastelic questions the traditional monetary system and promotes the use of Bitcoin. He uses this currency to minimise costs and intermediaries by integrating it into his artistic practice.
